Stop Asking the Wrong Questions About Your Real Estate Career
If you’re thinking about getting into real estate—or you’re already in and trying to figure out what’s next—there’s a good chance you’re asking the wrong questions.
“What are the splits?”
“Do you get leads?”
“What CRM do you use?”
“How many homes has your brokerage sold?”
I get why you're asking. These feel like the “smart” business questions. But here’s the truth:
Those questions won’t determine whether you succeed.
What Actually Matters?
Here’s what does matter:

Who’s going to teach you how to fish?

Who’s going to help you generate business—not just hand you a few leads?

Who’s going to help you build something you can actually grow?

Who are you sitting next to, learning from, and leaning on?
If your goal is to build a sustainable real estate business, the questions change. You're not just picking a brokerage. You're choosing your environment.
The Brokerage Doesn’t Matter. The People Do.
Let’s be honest—every brokerage has the same stuff: a CRM, tools, a fancy-looking website, maybe some swag. None of that closes deals.
The difference is the people.

The mentors who actually make time for you

The leaders who help you learn how to win

The teammates who stay late to help write your first offer
Want to build something real? Sit next to someone who already has.
Do You Want to Learn, or Do You Want to Guess?
You can do this by yourself.
I’ve done it. It’s possible.
But it’s slower.
It’s lonelier.
It’s more frustrating than it needs to be.
In the best of times, you’ll be stretched thin. You’ll make mistakes. You’ll drop the ball. And you’ll be the only one there to fix it.

And if you’re still focused on “splits” and “leads,” here’s the tough love:
A lead means nothing if you don’t know what to do with it.
The better question to ask is:
“What kind of agent will I become if I spend time with you?”
The Market Isn’t Stopping You

It’s not the market.
It’s not:

The election

Your budget for Zillow ads
It’s:

The people you’re learning from—or not learning from

The choices you’re making about growth

So… What Do You Actually Want?

But ask yourself this:
What do you want your real estate business—and your life—to look like this year?
